About Ms. Cook

Currently, I play in a reggae band, called Elm City Sound - it should be playing right now for you.  It is comprised entirely of music educators.  I will also be working on some chamber music this year.

This is just my second year of teaching.  Last year I taught band and general music at a few different schools.  I gained a lot out of that, and I can't wait to apply what I have learned, and learn new stuff along the way!

My Philosophy

I believe that all students are capable of success in the music classroom.  The teacher must be the one to set the students up for success, with the help of the parents.  Then the student must do his/her part in order to become an independent learner.

If you work hard to do the best you can, and to bring your own uniqueness to class, you will succeed!

About Ms. Cook

I was born on Long Island (that fish-looking island attached to NYC).  In high school, I was in the Jazz Band (2nd, then 1st tenor saxophonist), Marching Band (Saxophone Section, Section Leader, then Drum Major), Musical Pits, and Wind Ensemble.  I also played in two different ska bands with my friends from school.

moved to Connecticut just five years ago to go to college.  I went to the Hartt School, University of Hartford, for my Bachelor of Music in Music Education.  I was in the saxophone studio under the direction of Carrie Koffman.  There, I participated in Symphony Band, Wind Ensemble, Saxophone Quartets, Saxophone Ensemble, and other small group chamber ensembles.
