Lessons:

  • Students will receive a 30 minute lesson once per week.

  • Students will receive a 30 minute band class once per week.

Lessons are grouped by instrument type and grade level, for the most part.  Lesson groups rotate each week so that students are not taken out of the same class every week.

  • Lessons are the time for the student to learn techniques and literacy skills that will transfer over to their music-making.

  • Band is a time to apply all that they have learned in lessons, and to practice making music as a group.

IF A STUDENT MISSES A LESSON, IT IS HIS/HER RESPONSIBILITY TO EITHER ASK A PEER OR MS. COOK FOR THE WORK HE/SHE MISSED.

Lesson Days:

Warren: Monday

Goshen: Tuesday and Wednesday

Morris: Thursday and Friday

Attendance:

  • Students are expected to attend every lesson and band rehearsal.

  • If a student misses a lesson, progress will noticeably decrease, seeing as I only see students once a week for lessons.

  • If a student misses a rehearsal, his/her grade will be impacted negatively.

If A Student Misses A Lesson:
  • He/she is responsible for the missed work.

  • The student may attempt to make up the missed lesson at a time approved by both Ms. Cook and the classroom teacher.

  • Absences that are not made up will negatively impact the student's grade.

  • Students are responsible for looking at their lesson schedule and knowing when to show up for the lesson.

  • Too many absences may be grounds for removal from the program, depending on the circumstances.

Parents

I understand that there are sometimes circumstances out of anyone's control (family emergencies, doctor's appointments, etc...).  All I ask is that you keep an open line of honest communication with me.  I try to make myself as available as possible, as often as possible.
